first half, the deadlock was broken with a Stu Verrell goal on 59 minutes, he

Kirby
1-2 Coalville Town Tuesday 26th January This
re-arranged fixture saw Coalville come to Ratby Lane looking for 3 points to secure
their 2nd place spot in the league. The game was at a fast pace for most of
the first half with Kirby just edging the possession and this paid off in the
44th minute with Ronie White scoring his second goal since joining the club. After
the break, Kirby looked comfortable until a poor goal-kick let in Coalville with
a soft goal on 61 minutes. Kibry's gurad was down and Coalville took the 3 points
with a goal on the 69th minute. Kirby had their chances but just missed the
target on more than 1 occasion.
Barwell
2-0 Kirby Saturday 23rd January Kirby lost
their second game on the bounce as they lost at Boldmere. This early scoring
game saw all the goals being scored in the first half. Jamie Mason scored in the
second minute but Boldemere scored 3 minutes later. Mason scored again after 8
minutes and the game settled down until Boldmere equalised again on the half hour
mark with a penalty. Boldmere took all 3 points 2 minutes later with the go-ahead
goal and put themselves level on points with Kirby.
Barwell
v Kirby Tuesday 19th January Kirby went to
Barwell in this re-arranged fixture from Boxing Day. The first half saw Barwell
dominating with Kirby giving Barwell too much room which resulted in Barwell having
8 shots to Kirby's one. The go-ahead goal came on the 40th minute when a long
ball looked to have been handled by Kev Charley before despatching the ball into
the net. The second half belonged to Kirby who came out of the blocks flying
and had most of the play - putting Barwell under pressure, but couldn't make it
pay off. As Kirby pushed for the equaliser there was a lapse at the back and Kev
Charley sealed the win in the 89th minute and keep the points at Kirkby Road.
Studley
0-3 Kirby 5th december 2009 Kirby won on the road again, this time
at Studley who were team of the month for November. Kirby started off a bit
slow out of the blocks, but Studley appeared to sit back too and on a heavy pitch
the game struggled to gain life. Studley's tall striker was causing problems
for the Kirby defence and backed up by the Studley right winger it looked as if
the home side might get the advantage. Chances went for both sides and there
was a match changing incident on the half hour mark when a Studley player was
sent off for violent conduct. Although playing against 10 men, Kirby still didn't
quite settle. Studley had another blow towards the end of the first half when
their problematic striker was carried off with injury. Kirby's first goal came
from a corner when Mason fired in a low shot. New signing Ronie White came
off the bench toopen his account as he broke through and slotted the ball
into the onion bag past the Studley keeper. White could have had a couple more
but for the Studley stopper. Mason finished the game off with a tap in from a
yard on the 90th minute.
Coventry
Sphinx 2-2 Kirby 28th November 2009 Kirby stopped Coventry's 100%
home record with a 2-2 draw. Craig Pietrzyk scored the first from the spot in
the 8th minute after Hardeep Phull was brought down by the Sphinx keeper. Coventry
came out for the second half with 10 men as one of their players was send off
for attacking one of the Kirby back room staff as they left the field. Although
down to 10 men, Coventry came back with a scrambled goal on 48 minutes and followed
it up 10 minutes later with a lucky shot finding the net through keeper Wilcox's
hands. Kirby had most of the play and got the equaliser with 9 minutes to go as
the ball found Danny Taylor in the box to slot it home. An ill tempered game
which Kirby should have won but due to some bizarre and puzzling decisions from
the officials which only added to the fire due to lack of control.
Kirby
2-1 Malvern Town 21st November 2009 Craig Pietrzyk grabbed an injury
time winner for Kirby as they came from behind to win 2-1. Malvern scored in the
32nd minute with a Craig Carter strike and Jamie Mason took over as Kirby's top
scorer with a solo effort just before the break. With the game looking like it
was going to end in a draw Craig Pietrzyk stretched at the far post to smash in
Connor Packwoods killer cross. Kirby now go into 8th place in the Aspire
Midland Alliance league.
Kirby
1-1 Tipton Town 7th November 2009 Jamie Mason got the equaliser with
five minutes on the clock to knock Tipton sideways in a close fought game at Ratby
Lane. Tipton were in third place going into the game and looked every part of
a top three side - playing at pace and closing down any attack. Kirby were awarded
a penalty halfway through the first half but Danny Taylor hit the post to let
Tipton off the hook. The go-ahead goal came three minutes after the break when
Richard Huckfield let fly from over twenty yards to beat Wilcox in the Kirby goal.
Tipton were just shading the game on possession but Kirby made the last ten minutes
count with wave after wave of attack. Mason's eighth goal of the season came from
a corner when the ball found the onion bag from Mason's powerful header. The
Moaters have now taken seven points from the last three games - all against top
three opposition.

visitors through.
Alvechurch
4-6 Kirby 31st October 2009 Jamie Mason fired home four goals as
Kirby won 6-4 away at third place Alvechurch. The scoring started in the 3rd minute
when a Danny Taylor shot was deflected into the Alvechurch net by a defender to
shock the favourites. Alvechurch were awarded a baffling penalty on the 11th minute
which was despatched to level the score. The first of Masons goals came
in the 17th minute as he got through the weak Alvechurch defence to slam the ball
in from a narrow angle, again, the score was levelled as 10 men Alvechurch scored
in the 38th minute but Mason hit back with his trade-mark lob from 30 yards to
put Kirby in the lead at the break. Mason got his third of the match with
another lob over the Alvechurch keeper on the 48th minute to extend Kirbys
lead and his last of the day came from a well worked move for a tap-in at the
far post before being substituted off to loud round of applause. Stu Verrall got
himself on the score sheet with 10 minutes to go as he deceived the Alvechurch
keeper with another lob over the top to make it 6-2. Alvechurch had another player
sent off before the end and at this point it appeared Kirby have switched off
and let two more goals through one of which was another soft penalty. Overall,
Kirby played well and capitalised on the Alvechurch defence who appeared at sea
in patches and also quietened the Alvechurch stand who cheered every wrong pass
from Kirby...they had to cheer something at least...
Kirby
3-0 Causeway 24th October 2009 Kirby got their first home win of
the season as they beat league contenders Causeway 3-0. Causeway started the
brighter with a few chances missing the target and outstanding defending from
The Moaters back line. The break-through came in the 42nd minute with a Jim Mee
strike3 and Kirby doubled their lead on the stroke of half time when Danny Taylor
rounded the Causeway keeper to slot the ball in. Kirby came out for the second
half the better side and continued to press making more chances and the final
nail in the Causeway coffin came on 81 minutes with an identical free kick from
Jim Mee - curling it over the wall with dip and swerve to gain all three points
and with a clean sheet to boot.
Malvern
1-3 Kirby 17th October 2009 Three headed goals ensured Kirby got
all three points away from home. Kirby travelled to Malvern - Town who were one
place below in the Aspire Midland Alliance, knowing anything but a win would steady
the ship for Gaz Keenans side. Kirby had most of the play in the first
half and the deadlock came after mounting pressure when Stu Verrall out jumped
two Malvern players to nod the ball in on 37 minutes. Malvern were awarded a penalty
in the last minute of the half which was dispatched to tie the game going into
the break. Another set piece found Verrall unmarked on the six yard box and
the ball was guided in to get the go-ahead goal on the 48th minute. Danny Gibbons
cemented the win with another headed goal with 20 minutes to go and Kirby comfortably
held on to take all three much needed points.

keeper earned his money as he pulled off 3 big saves to keep Highgate in the game. Highgate
doubled their lead 10 minutes into the second half before Stu Verrall got one
back in the 68th minute with a lob over the Highgate keeper. Jim Mee was on target
in the 77th minute with a 20 yard free kick beating the Highgate keeper and hitting
the top left hand corner. It looked like another draw for Kirby but Highgate
snatched all 3 points on the 90th minute.
Kirby
1-1 Stratford Town 6th October 2009 The biggest crowd of the season
so far saw Kirby draw with Stratford Town. Stratford normally finish in the top
4 year in, year out and the doubts were around before the match regarding getting
anything out of this one. The game was quite even through the first half with
Stratford making more chances bringing off 2 good saves from Wilcox in the Kirby
goal. The breakthrough was made on the 33rd minute when a Danny Gibbons free kick
found the net. Kirby's work-rate was ever present throughout the match making
it had for Stratford to keep possession. Stratford had more of the play in
the second half coming close on more than 1 occasion - Wilcox again making 2 good
stops to deny the Stratford come back. Stratford got the equaliser with 21 minutes
to go to share the points.

were evenely matched for most of the match with chances not being taken by either.

'Kirby bobble' seen the shots go over or wide.
